‘DIGNIDAD Act’ Sparks Backlash Over Mass Amnesty Plan
A new immigration bill backed by a coalition of bipartisan legislators is sparking backlash across the conservative movement, as critics warn it could grant sweeping amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. At a time when many voters expected stronger enforcement, this legislation is raising serious questions about whether Washington is listening to the American people.

From The Washington Stand:
In the wake of President Donald Trump’s historic pledge to carry out a mass deportation program, a coalition of Republicans is promoting a bill to grant widespread amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, prompting fierce backlash from fellow congressional Republicans and the GOP base.
Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.) led 19 other Republicans in the House of Representatives in introducing H.R. 4393, the “Dignity for Immigrants while Guarding our Nation to Ignite and Deliver the American Dream Act of 2025” or DIGNIDAD (Spanish for “Dignity”) Act, in July. Late last month, Salazar and her cohorts launched the “Dignity Coalition” in an effort to gain support for the legislation. The renewed interest in the updated legislation, which Salazar touts as “the only serious, bipartisan solution to fix America’s broken immigration system,” has drawn scrutiny and criticism from fellow Republicans and immigration experts, who have declared the bill to be a thinly-veiled bid at widespread amnesty.
At the center of the concern is the scale of the proposal. According to the Stand, George Fishman, senior legal fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, explained that the DIGNIDAD Act would grant “first-tier amnesty” to as many as three million illegal migrants, as well as granting “second-tier amnesty” to as many as 12 million migrants. Fishman also feels the legislation would “increase legal immigration levels by 55 percent — over five million persons over the next decade.” As he puts it, “This is not what the American people were hoping for in electing Donald Trump as president.”
Policies like this do not solve the immigration crisis, but instead incentivize more illegal immigration. By offering legal status and expanded benefits, the bill could encourage others to enter the country unlawfully in hopes of receiving similar treatment in the future.
There are also concerns about fairness and the rule of law. Millions of individuals have followed the legal immigration process, often waiting years and navigating costly requirements to enter the United States properly. Granting widespread amnesty risks undermining that process and sending a message that the law does not need to be followed.
Opposition from within the Republican Party has been strong. Lawmakers and conservative leaders have made it clear that they view the legislation as a direct contradiction of the mandate voters gave in the last election. Polling also shows that a majority of Americans support stronger enforcement measures, including deportations, rather than expanded amnesty programs.
Our nation’s leaders now face a critical choice: whether to uphold the rule of law or to continue policies that many believe weaken it. Pray that our leaders would put Americans first, enforce just laws, and reject policies that incentivize illegal immigration.
Leave a prayer below for our leaders and for the future of our nation’s immigration system — and share this article to encourage others to intercede.

The Dignity Act provides a means of granting work permits to individuals whose parents don’t have legal standing and thus they don’t to apply for work permits. Explicitly it does not allow a path to asylum. Some of these individuals have been here 20 years. It is the government responsibility to bring them out of the shadows with law and Grace. We can still deport felons and uphold our immigration law. Too many are misrepresenting this initiative without a solution for these people. The church should not be deceived. God loves the foreigners and he expects them to obey the laws of the land while being treated with dignity as His image bearers.
I have just ONE question about the immigration so called system, why are 99.8 precent of South African people allowed refugee status and put in the immigration system? They have no jobs waiting for them, no family, we foot their bills, unlike most immigrants from South America Have jobs and families here and pay into SS , is it because the South Africans are all white? I pray that this is not true , but the leader of our country is making it look that way, whatever happened to respect and compassion for our fellow people?
Almighty God, we pray for many Americans to have spiritual awakening! We pray for spirit of truth and righteousness, spirit of fear of the Lord be upon our law makers, the Congress, Senate, Supreme court, and the executive. Bless them to uphold the law to protect the legal citizens of our land. Please protect our country from people and politicians with wicked agenda, in Jesus name.
The passing of this bill is in direct opposition to the wishes of “we the people” It is also in direct opposition to our current Immigration law. Further, it is also in direct violation of election integrity and most importantly it is powerfully insulting and disrespectful to the Legal immigrants who valued coming to America and assimilating here, enough to go through all the legal processes.
Father, we ask that you would move on the hearts and minds of lawmakers to understand . Prevent this type of lawlessness from moving forward in the name of Jesus….We thank you for our country and for the laws, protections, and rights that you have given us…In Jesus name Amen
Father may this lae go nowhere. We are a nation like any other nation in the world thar has borders. The citizens determine the direction of the nation not anybody who wanders across the border! Nay our legislators desire to protect our country and respect those immigrants who went to the effort to become citizens. Father protect us against lawlessness.
ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE CONGRESS GOING AGAINST THE MAJORITY WILL OF THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED IN NOVEMBER 2024!!! THESE BACK-DOOR ACTS NEED TO BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF AMERICANS, AND THE MSM IS BURYING IT!!!
Any republican supporting this act show we the people that they are more socialist and therefore rinos. This is a continued slap in the face to those who came legally and we the people. Illegals and immigrants are now refusing to assimilate but want to change the US to the socialist government they claim to want to escape from. Enforce our current laws now and remove all illegals. I think that they should never be considered for entry into the US they have proven that they don’t respect our laws by entering illegally. Trump offered the demoncrats an amnesty for more daca people than the demoncrats wanted during his first presidency and they refused. Why? Because they care only for remaining in power they care nothing for we the people or illegals. I pray that God guide those who seek His guidance to put and end to the cycle of illegal then amnesty repeat. I trust in God. 🙏😇🙏
No more amnesty for these people! Just stop!
Oh God! Give our Government the wisdom and the courage to do what is right regarding immigration.
Father, let the rule of law (Constitution) apply regarding this matter. Most of all, Lord, the revival and spiritual awakening that has begun must spread now like wildfire. Let Your Spirit alight upon every person who opposes righteousness and justice and all that is good. Change worldviews, Lord. Reformation begins now. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
